What Is the Volt Lines Driver Protection Program?

While following the Covid-19 outbreak that emerged in late 2019 from day one, we began working on the measures we would take should the pandemic reach Turkey. When the first case appeared in Turkey in mid-March, we put those measures into effect immediately. We applied our hygiene and safety practices — vehicle disinfection, driver training, mask requirements — without exception, and adapted them as the situation developed.

The safety of our drivers and passengers has always been Volt Lines' priority. As we rolled out our Covid-19 measures, we kept the health and safety of our drivers and passengers front and centre throughout. We have recently added one more measure to that list: we have brought the Covid-19 symptoms our drivers may experience into the Volt Lines Driver Protection Program. Under this program, drivers working on our active lines will continue to receive their regular earnings even if they test positive for Covid-19 while on duty.

When Does the Volt Lines Driver Protection Program Apply?

– Our drivers are required to follow the protective measures put in place against the virus in order to protect both themselves and their passengers. Should they experience symptoms of the virus, they must inform Volt Lines as soon as possible and isolate themselves to avoid transmitting the virus to others.

– In such a case, drivers must place themselves in quarantine immediately, following the guidance of Volt Lines management and the OHS team, and act in line with the OHS team's instructions.

– For the Volt Lines Driver Protection Program to apply, a Covid-19 report must be obtained from a hospital or the competent local authorities.

– Drivers on active lines whose reports state that they are Covid-19 positive will continue to receive their regular earnings, with no loss of income during the quarantine or sick-leave period.

For the safety of our drivers, their families and our passengers…

– Our drivers must inform Volt Lines management without delay if they show any symptoms themselves, if a family member or someone they have been in contact with tests positive for Covid-19, or if any of their shuttle passengers tests positive for Covid-19. In such cases it is essential to report the moment the incident or suspicion arises, without waiting for a doctor's report.

The Volt Lines Driver Protection Program was created to protect our drivers, their families and everyone they come into contact with, passengers included — and to prevent our drivers from losing work or income during this period.
