What Is the Road Permit, Known as the Yol Kağıdı?
The operating permit that every vehicle providing employee shuttle and transportation services within the boundaries of the city of Istanbul must obtain is called the yol belgesi (road permit) or yol kağıdı (road slip). This document is issued by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The purpose of the road slip scheme is to make public transport services more systematic. Where employee shuttle and transportation services are carried out without obtaining an İBB road slip, penalties are imposed on the vehicles providing that service.
How Do You Obtain a Road Permit?
The first thing that matters in meeting the requirement to obtain an İBB road slip, also known as the road permit, is which sector the transportation service operates in. Transport vehicles serving different sectors need to prepare different documents. For example, the documents required of a vehicle providing an employee shuttle service will differ from those required of a vehicle providing tourism transport.
Which Documents Are Required to Obtain a Road Permit? 2019–2020 Update
The documents that companies and municipalities wishing to obtain an employee shuttle road permit need to prepare are as follows:
- Motor vehicle traffic certificate and vehicle registration document; the intended purpose of use must be stated when preparing the paperwork.
- Documents showing that all the interior and exterior equipment of the vehicle to be used for the employee shuttle service complies with the standards set by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality
- The driver's commercial vehicle driving certificate, the driver's shuttle transportation authorisation certificate and social security (SGK) documents
- Compulsory personal accident seat insurance
- Certificate of conformity for the employee shuttle vehicle
Where Do You Apply for a Road Permit?
Drivers providing employee shuttle transportation services in Istanbul must apply to the İBB Public Transport Services Directoratein order to obtain a road permit. Drivers first confirm that their personal details are correct, then upload the requested documents to the system and submit their application. Once the application is complete, the applicant receives a text message saying the document is ready, and the document can again be collected from TUHİM. The application steps are as follows:
- First, log in to e-tuhim with your username and password.
- Once logged in, select the Route Applications button in the second step.
- At this stage, select which shuttle transportation service the road permit is being obtained for.
- Enter the vehicle details, driver details, company details, route details, the details of the people who will collect the road permit, and the permit receipt details in the relevant fields.
- Upload the documents required for the road permit to the system.
- In the final step, complete the application using the Submit Application button.
